About Kee Foong

Like many young boys, Kee wanted to be a pilot when he grew up. That never happened. Instead, he fell into a life of writing and editing for luxury, travel and lifestyle publications before establishing keepicks. Perhaps it was in his blood. Kee’s father was a Fleet Street journalist during London’s swinging 60s and impressed upon him the power of words and images, which, in today’s digital age, is as important as ever.

Based in Hong Kong and hailing from the emerald city of Sydney, Kee was previously editor for Discovery, Cathay Pacific’s inflight magazine, and the cult LUXE City Guides, described by Vanity Fair as “compulsory inflight reading”. He has helped launch award-winning content across print and digital channels, with Discovery winning Gold at the Asian Publishing Awards in 2013 and 2014 for cross-platform content development.

Kee has extensive experience developing editorial and paid content targeted at discerning and high-net-worth individuals, as well as producing custom content for blue-chip – and sometimes demanding – clients, including Veuve Clicquot, Tiffany & Co., Rimowa, Christie’s, Salvatore Ferragamo, The Peninsula hotels and The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. He understands commercially driven content and has covered travel, lifestyle, hotels, restaurants, art, culture, fashion, architecture, design, motoring, wine, tech and the luxury goods sector. His work has also been published in The Times, The Independent, Australian Gourmet Traveller, South China Morning Post, Destinasian, Design Anthology, Tatler and #legend.

Apart from being a hotel and travel nerd, food, nature and culture are some of Kee’s other passions. He’s equally happy kayaking in Antarctica, skiing in St Moritz, diving in the Maldives, wildlife-spotting in Botswana, feasting on a kaiseki meal in Kyoto, tucking into street food in Hanoi, browsing art galleries in Miami’s design district or enjoying the opera at Venice’s La Fenice theatre.

About the blog

Kee’s great passion is travel and he’s a sucker for great hotels, Air BnB be damned. The blog features reviews of his favourite hotels in far-flung places and big cities, and occasional lists and destination tips.
